07.09.2017· This video talks about the role of aggregates in concrete mixture design.
Typically, for dense-graded mixes, a lift thickness of 3 to 4 times the nominal maximum size (NMS) of the aggregate is needed. For example, a mix containing ½-inch NMS stone should be placed at a compacted depth of at least 1-½ to 2 inches. If a ½ -inch top-size mix is placed at 1 inch compacted depth, the mat may pull and tear and the ...

Mar 19, 2019· Workability: The concrete mix workability is the property that determines the mix capacity to be placed and consolidate properly, allowing to finish a product without segregation. Consistency: This property determines the mobility and slump of the concrete mix. This characteristic is measured in terms of slump, the higher slump values, the more manageable, and greater mobility will .
Concrete Mix Design or Mix Design of Concrete is a procedure of determining the relative quantities and proportions of different ingredients of the concrete i.e. Cement, Water, Fine Aggregate, Coarse Aggregate, with the object of producing homogeneous fully compactable concrete having required Strength and Properties with economy.
Concrete Mix Design. May 17, 2017· Concrete Mix Design:-Concrete is a composite mixture which consists of Cement, Sand and Aggregate Concrete mix design is the procedure for finding the right quantities of these materials to achieve the desired strength. Our mix-on-site concrete calculation is based on batching by volume (Large construction sites employ batching by weight which is more exact). You can also estimate the quantity of sand and gravel required by weight; Simply multiply the volumetric quantity of sand and gravel with 1400 kg/m 3 (bulk density of sand) and 1600 kg/m 3 (bulk density of stone) respectively, when calculating in metric ...
Concrete mix ratio of 1:3:3 – On mixing 1 part cement, 3 parts sand with 3 parts aggregate produces concrete with a compressive strength of 3000 psi.. On mixing water with the three ingredients, a paste is formed that binds them together till the concrete mix gets hardened. The strength concrete is inversely proportional to the water/cement ratio.

Standardised prescribed concrete. Standard mixes are a defined list of concretes within BS 8500 which are made with a prescribed quantity of materials as required in the British Standard. These concretes are normally mixed on site on small scale jobs or obtained from a supplier with no quality standards.

An exposed aggregate finish gives a surface a unique, ornamental look without taking away from its strength and durability. Many types of concrete have aggregate, or small stones, mixed in to help hold the mixture together as a solid surface.
Aggregates generally occupy 70 to 80% of the volume of concrete and therefore have a significant effect on its properties. Strength of concrete and mix design are independent of the composition of aggregate, but durability may be affected. Aggregates are classified based on specific gravity as heavyweight, normal-weight, and lightweight.
